2008-02-02 Learning german
I have found the motivation to study, and it didn’t take more than 20 years. I kind of wish I had found it already when I had matriculation exams or University’s entrance exam or when I started school
.
I started few weeks ago my second German course and I love studying and learning. It’s great feeling when you see that because of your work, you start to understand song lyrics, you’re able to read Fruits Basket and magazines in German. Not that I would understand everything, or that I wouldn’t need my dictionary, but I understand more than one or two words. My goal is “very” modest, to be able to talk German so well that I can live there.
I have been collecting words and sentences on green post-it notes and in a text file in my laptop. I have also said to Jo that he should talk to me German as much as he thinks I will understand. And naturally I try to sometimes speak German to him too.
Gute Nacht, süße Träume und so weiter.
Äh… okay es ist 16:15 Uhr…

Woo! Well done!
My mum is german so I’m fluent in the language, I just always have trouble with the der, die and das.
I don’t get how you remember which word is what!
Keep us posted on how it goes
Yay! Good for you
I hope you keep the patience.
Good luck! I’m sure with the dedication and willpower you can achieve it.
I never had the patience or aptitude for learning German.
Good for you to take the opportunity to learn another language. My second language speaking experience was only in high school in which I was learning French. I’ve retained very little of it in five years later. However, I would love to learn Spanish and Japanese, although, I heard the latter is really hard to grasp.
Good luck with your studies!
Ohhh. love the new theme. it has such a classic look to it
also, i love learning languages too. however, i suffer from a bad memory so it’s a lot of work for me to retain it
you sound super dedicated tho. so I’m sure you’ll be fluent in no time.
also. it’s Chinese new years right now. and it’s the year of the rat. YUKIIIII huggles him ( i love furuba too)
“Gute Nacht, süße Träume und so weiter.” hehe, that’s what you said on the Snark voice clip.
I so wish I could take up German again. I was pretty good in high school, but at uni I didn’t take it so my skills are quite rusty.
