2007-15-10 Deutschrockgirl (and some Bela B. fangirlism) - Part Two
It would be nice to say that I found all these bands myself but… Jo (my boyfriend) loves music as much as I do. And because he’s a German who also likes german music, I’ve been corrupted by him. On the other hand, I don’t mind at all.
Random: The weirdest place where I have heard Krafwerk played was in Christmas party at my little brother’s school (he was 8 or 9 years old then).
First German band I listened to was Rammstein (I knew Scooter and I really loved Lemon Tree by Fool’s Garden, but it was more like “oh nice songs”). Rammstein well, definitely not my kind of music and I’m slghtly surprised that I have even Reise Reise and Rosenrot (even a special edition of that) in my cd shelf. Anyway I liked quite a lot Mutter and albums before that, Zwitter and Engel are still my favourite songs. I loved the Neon Genesis Evagelion video of Engel. My friend show it to me (I had * secret * crush on her big brother who had some Rammstein videos in his computer). I guess I was in right age, Rammstein had just released Mutter and they happened to be big thing also in Finland, but current Rammstein is too “metal” for me.
Jo and I became friends around that time so my interest towards German music grew. And as usual I was making researches in local library and found Einstürzende Neubauten (without Jo’s help). Album was Strategies Against Architecture II. I admit I was somewhat surprised when first listened to EN(Einstürzende Neubauten) but I liked a lot. I didn’t tell to Jo about my new found and it was quite a coincidence when I opened my Christmas present from him. Apparently he thought that I should get to know also other bands than just Rammstein.
Jo brought me Trend’s Navigator album (promo edition I guess, because it included also some stickers). I’m quite likely the only person in Finland owning their albums (okey, just one album, but anyway). Just that you know, Trend is fabulous punk band.
Lately I have become completely corrupted by Die Ärzte. I haven’t been listening to them so long yet but as said I’ve been able to develop a endless love towards them, especially towards Bela
. I have a thing for tattooed men (hence the “and some Bela B. fangirlism” in title, I needed an excuse to blabber about him). But before that. Why I like Die Ärzte. I can’t say much about their lyrics because my German is still very bad (aber ich lerne). But I know – because I have “forced” Jo to tell me – that they’re simply excellent. They have somewhat twisted sense of humour, but in some cases it’s the best kind of humor. Ah so I concentrate in their music which is very good. And after listening to a lot of live albums, I have come in conclusion that I need to see them live, because they’re even better live than on studio albums.
Bela B: My favourite… If I was single (Jo beats any rockstar 10-0) and if he was maybe (maybe…. I mean in this case I might maybe make an exception) little younger… Yes. As said there’s something is him. He has very very sexy voice. (I’m sounding like scary fangirl.)
I guess that’s my Germany. Other good bands from that direction: Wolfsheim, Rosenstolz, Fehlfarben, Kraftwerk, Can), DAF, KMFDM...
Ah Deutschland!
(translation provided by Jo)

Comment
Apfel Vanille Tee? Bei DM (der Drogeriemarkt?) lol.
Never heard of that Neubauten Group, I will have to check them out.
Die Ärzte – well, die Ärzte. The lyricas are just great. Deutschrockgirl is a good song too
Really, all of their lyrics are just great. I’m thinking of some RERALLY great lyrics from their songs but as said before.. all are great
Für Immer, Zu Spät (zu Spät live is just soo hot) – two of my favorite. Lucky you that you have a German bf
Yeah I kinda fell in love with that tea, and I can’t get anything similar from Finland
And I’m definitely very lucky
There’s two german songs I really like, Musik Monks by Seeed, and Ein Kompliment by Sportfreunde Stiller. I heard them in my German class once and really liked them
